New York State Legislation
Reproductive Health Act
S.2524 (Klein)/S.2844
(Stewart-Cousins)/A.6112 (Glick)
From the New York State Right to
Life website:
"The Reproductive Health Act
seeks to have abortion declared a ‘fundamental right’ in New
York State, prohibiting even basic and widely supported
protections, such as parental consent and limits on
government funding of abortion. The law would allow any
"health care practitioner" to perform an abortion,
jeopardize any agency that does not refer for abortion and
seriously threaten conscience protections for hospitals and
medical professionals."
From the New York State Senate Open
Legislation website:
"Enacts the "reproductive health act"; provides a
fundamental right to choose contraception and the right of a
female to determine the course of a pregnancy; authorizes
abortion prior to viability; defines terms; decriminalizes
abortion."
